In the interest of providing a safe, comfortable, fun and productive learning environment, we would like to draw your attention to the following guidelines. If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
The K9 Kampus Training program endeavors to be a learning space where positive reinforcement training techniques can be thoroughly and effectively explored.
To protect our matted flooring, no spiky heels or cleats – wear comfortable shoes. Long dog nails should be clipped or filed down. If your dog has difficulty accepting this handling, please call or email us for help. In the meantime, if your dog has long nails avoid rough fetch and tug games while on our matted flooring.
All dogs should remain on leash unless otherwise instructed by the Trainer.
Dogs should not be allowed to greet each other unless otherwise instructed by the Lead Trainer.
All dogs must present proof that they are current on their vaccinations for rabies, distemper (DHLPP), and Bordetella, or a statement from your licensed veterinarian recommending a specific exception. All dogs must have seen a veterinarian within the last year and received a clean fecal exam.
Never hand your leash to anyone, including a Trainer, unless you are absolutely comfortable doing so. If your Trainer asks to use your dog to demonstrate a technique in class and you do not want them to handle your dog, just say so. You never need a reason to maintain control of your own dog.
Some dogs are on special diets, have allergies, or have different rules about food. Do not feed any dog other than your own unless specifically instructed by a Trainer, or authorized to do so by that dog’s guardian.
It is our policy to not have children under the age of 12 years in our training facility. Your attention must be 100% focused on your dog at all times. Children between the ages of 13 – 16 can participate as the handler in the class with a signed waiver, however, the parent must be present and actively participating at all times. The parent is still always responsible for the actions of the dog at all times.
Only one dog per handler allowed in the training facility. No extra dogs allowed during training classes.
Aggressive Dog Policy
A dog may be considered aggressive if it attempts or repeatedly attempts action which may be potentially harmful or dangerous to persons or other animals. Such action might be, but are not limited to, snapping, growling, barring teeth, charging or lunging, raising hackles, or biting.
Any dog that behaves in an aggressive manner will be excused from class for the day and removed from the premises. The trainer will determine based on the situation if the “event” in question was aggression and the trainer always has the right to request that the handler remove a dog or may recommend other appropriate action.
The trainer will assist the owner/handler in finding appropriate solutions to aggressive dog situations.
